April 30, 2020

Dear Faithful of St. Joseph’s,

Greetings to you in Christ, our Risen Lord.

When we all celebrated New Years on January first, who of us could have possibly imagined all that would take place in our world. Not being able to attend Mass in person has been a challenge and even a cause of much grief among many, myself included.

As the Diocese of Boise begins to re-open churches for public Masses, we are still required to follow the strict social distancing protocol and sanitation guidelines given by the Governor’s office. Because of the restricted size of St. Joseph’s, I have determined that we cannot open for public Masses yet. The church is simply too small. As a reference point, after closing every other pew, ensuring that no one is sitting within 6 feet from the middle and side aisles, as well as closing the first and last pews and marking an “X” every 6 feet in the remaining pews, St. Paul’s is only capable of holding 73 individuals (Note: a family counts as an individual). We would only be able to allow a handful of people into St. Joseph’s. Therefore, I am keeping St. Joseph’s closed for now.

I invite you to come to St. Paul’s in the meantime. We will reopen St. Joseph’s as soon as it is safe and reasonable to do so. Please know that we will also continue to offer the Mass livestream.

You may find this video helpful and better understand how the seating and social distancing will take place at St. Paul’s

Dispensation Still in Place
Dispensation for Mass continues for all who are over 60, immune compromised or are vulnerable. If you are not comfortable coming to Mass, you are welcome to stay home.

**Do not come to Mass if you are sick

Reserved Mass for Seniors and Vulnerable
The Saturday 5:00pm Mass is only for Senior Citizens and those who are vulnerable.
Just as the grocery stores allotted time for seniors and the vulnerable, so will St. Paul’s.

You are all in my love and my prayers. Let’s continue to pray for an end to this pandemic and for the healing who are ill. I will stay in touch with you to let you know about changes as they arise.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Fr. Caleb Vogel

** No vengas a misa si estás enfermo
